Dr. Joya Singh, a proud graduate of Burrell College’s inaugural class of 2020, is now practicing emergency medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Dedicated to helping an underserved community, Dr. Singh uses her training to provide essential care to some of Dallas’s most vulnerable populations.
“We serve some of the most vulnerable populations in Dallas and it is exciting to be able to have the opportunity to help this community,” Dr. Singh said. “Burrell absolutely prepared me for my career by allowing me to connect with my mentors and get into the residency of my dreams.”
Advice for Current Students:
Dr. Singh urges current Burrell students to prioritize networking. “Go to all of the professional conventions for the specialties you’re interested in,” she recommends. “Don’t be afraid to speak to program directors and get connected with mentors who can guide you along your journey.”
Dr. Singh’s career highlights the power of mentorship, community service, and professional networking in building a successful medical career.
